The Sports Stories gave early evidence of Ödön von Horváth’s talent as a writer of short prose. His short prose texts, written through 1933, appeared in major newspapers and journals and reveal their author’s power as a social critic. For the first time, the volume offers a complete critically revised edition of this living body of work along with fragments of extant work projects in the context of their textual genesis.
